It seems like every organ in Izzy's body is working against her lungs! We thought for sure the tube would be out today, but it's not going to happen. They took an x ray this morning and found that she has some adelectasis, which means that some of her alveoli in her lungs are collapsed. They also saw that she has a huge gas bubble in her stomach that is pushing up on her lungs so they can't inflate all the way. In addition, they could see that her breathing tube is too far in, so they are going to pull it out just a little. Their plan is to put in a larger feeding tube that will be better at getting the gas out of her belly and they will be turning up the settings on her ventilator to get those alveoli puffed up again.
We've been told so many times that they are going to take the breathing tube out, so it's disheartening every time something prevents it from coming out. We just hope that when it finally comes out that it will stay out!
