DAY 13 - 03.09.18

We were surprised when we walked in the NICU today to find that Izzy finally got her tube out! Go Izzy! Instead of a tube in her mouth, she has a nasal canula in her nose that pushes oxygen into her lungs. It's very common that they have to reintubate, however we are thrilled that she is able to at least try her new ventilation. We are crossing our fingers that she does well enough to keep the tube out.  She still has the feeding tube in her mouth, the nurse said it will most likely stay there until she starts to breastfeed or bottle feed, which is around 34 weeks gestation...so in about two months. It's been fun today to see her cute little sneezes and yawns.

They had to stop a couple of her feedings last night because she's still had a lot of air in her belly, but they have started them up again and so far she's up to 6ml at each feeding. Today she weighed 1lb 11oz, exactly what she weighed at birth! She has been opening her eyes wider today! I like to think she can see us, but most likely she still can't see very well.

Mom and Dad are still pretty exhausted. I feel like all I have time to do in the day is pump, eat, and see Izzy and then all the sudden another day is over. Klay went back to work today for the first time since she was born, what a bummer. I wish he could be with us always! Luckily he works at the hospital so he can come see Izzy before and after his shifts and on breaks.  One more day closer to taking our sweet girl home!
