It's crazy how much the doctors and nurses tell you at one time, even 5 minutes after they leave it's hard to remember everything they've said!
We got a lot of good news today! The ductus arteriosis (the hole in her heart) that was giving her the heart murmur is gone! They did the echo this morning and said that for the most part, if not all the way, it's closed. There is a possibility of it opening again if she gets another infection, but most likely it will stay closed so they are stopping the tylenol that they've been giving her. She is getting so many medications I feel like, so it's relieving to have one go away.
The preliminary spinal tap results came back good! There were three white blood cells so they're pretty confident there isn't any meningitis. The culture grows for 72 hours so we haven't got a final result yet, but it's looking really good!
Her kidneys have been working great the past 24 hours, thank goodness!
She's up to 13 mL feedings at every care time and she has been doing so good with it. She hasn't had very much gas in her belly and they haven't had to stop feedings in a while so that's great news! They saw that her calcium and phosphorus levels were off when they did her labs last, so they've started her on a fortifier that they add to my milk that will help bring those up to where they need to be. She weighed 2 pounds today, she lost a little bit which means the swelling is going down.
They did an ultrasound on her legs, kidneys, and heart to see if there were any clots or anything holding the bacteria in there. They did find a superficial clot in her leg from where they took her PICC line out, it should go away on it's own and they weren't worried about it.
As for her infection, we are waiting for the results to come back on the culture they took this morning. Hopefully no bacteria grows!
My poor baby has been so upset today. She's had a lot of mucous coming out of her lungs so I'm sure that doesn't feel too great. I was able to hold her little hand and put my hand on her head while they did cares tonight and she calmed down for a little bit. I love when I can comfort her, even if it's just a little bit. Overall it seems like she is getting better, all your prayers are working! Thank you so much to everyone who has taken a minute out of your day today to pray for our sweet baby.
