DAY 24 - 03.20.18

The nurse practitioner told us today that Izzy has another hole in her heart called a VSD (ventricular septal defect). It's a heart defect where there's a hole in between the ventricles of the heart so blood can't flow correctly. Luckily they said it's really small so it shouldn't cause any problems. They think as her heart grows the muscle will fill in the hole and it won't be a problem. If the hole gets bigger then she'll have to see a cardiologist and most likely get a patch put in over the hole.
It is my birthday today so my only wish was to hold sweet Isabelle. They let me hold her for 3 hours again which was so nice. She did the same think as yesterday when Klay was holding her and she got bradycardia, but she got up back to normal again so they let me keep holding her. They had to turn a lot of settings up on her ventilator to bring her back to normal, so that's kind of a bummer. After today we are going to give her a break and leave her in her isolette for a while. I think all the moving her around has stressed her out quite a bit.
