Izzy had her eye exam today to look for ROP. We weren't here during it because I don't think I could have handled it. They numbed her eye so that she wouldn't feel any pain, but she could still feel pressure so I'm sure it wasn't comfortable. They said she was fussy and super wiggly during it and the rest of the day she was really tired. They probably would have extubated her today but they just wanted to let her relax and recover from the eye exam. The good news is that her eyes looked just fine! There are 3 zones that the blood vessels grow in, when the vessels are in zone 3 that means her eyes are fully mature. Her vessels were in zone 2, which is right on track for where she should be. The eye doctor comes every 2 weeks and she will get another exam to make sure they're still maturing properly.
The plan for tomorrow is extubation! We're planning on coming in at 12 and hopefully have that darn tube out forever!
